Welcome to Waves of Speech Pediatric Speech Therapy in South Orange County
Where communication grows, strengths shine, and families feel supported.
As a mom and pediatric speech therapist, I understand how overwhelming it can feel when your child is struggling to communicate. Whether their speech is hard to understand, they’re not meeting their milestones, or they’re struggling with language, having someone in your corner to support you and your child is essential.
My goal as your speech therapist and parent resource is to equip your child with the skills and tools to communicate effectively while also teaching you, as the parent, how to support their progress at home.
At Waves of Speech, we prioritize relationships, engagement, and finding joy in the process. I look forward to working with you and your child.

Pediatric Speech Therapy Services
Our Approach to Personalized & Compassionate Speech Therapy for Children in San Clemente
At Waves of Speech, the focus is on helping your child build communication skills, confidence, and connection in a safe and supportive environment. Therapy is personalized to your child’s strengths, interests, and communication needs.
Every intervention is grounded in evidence-based practice and carefully selected for your child’s needs and goals.
And as a parent, you are an essential part of the therapy process. I encourage parents and caregivers to observe sessions, participate when appropriate, and ask questions.
I also provide ongoing parent coaching, sharing simple, practical strategies that seamlessly fit into everyday life so progress can continue between sessions.
-
Evaluations allow us to understand your child’s strengths and areas of need. Evaluations typically consist of:
A detailed parent interview
Both formal and informal assessments
Observations across activities
Parent-child interaction and therapist-child interaction
Following the evaluation, families receive a written report outlining clinical findings, strengths, areas of need, and individualized recommendations to support your child’s communication development.
-
Articulation disorders impact how clearly or accurately your child can make speech sounds. Children struggling with speech sounds often have speech that is more difficult to understand.
During a typical speech therapy session, your child will learn how sounds are made and have multiple opportunities to practice them through fun, engaging activities.
Between sessions you will be provided with practice tips to keep progress going so your child can become a clear and confident communicator.
-
Early intervention focuses on building your child’s communication skills in a way that feels natural, positive, and encouraging.
During our therapy sessions, we use play and interactive activities to make learning natural and fun. Sessions focus on early language, gestures, sounds, and social interaction during familiar routines like play, books, and songs.
Between sessions, parents receive clear guidance and simple strategies to use throughout daily life. This family-centered approach helps communication grow naturally and supports steady progress beyond the therapy session.
-
Language disorders affect how well your child understands language and/or is able to share their thoughts, needs, and ideas.
During language therapy sessions, your child will engage in activities targeting their unique goals such as:
building vocabulary
forming sentences
answering questions
expressing ideas
following directions
Between sessions, families receive simple guidance and practice ideas to support carryover at home. This helps language skills grow beyond therapy and supports confident, functional communication in everyday life.
-
AAC supports children who are minimally- or non-verbal. When speech is limited or inconsistent, having a reliable system helps reduce frustration and supports connection with others.
During therapy sessions, children learn to use alternative forms of communication such as picture systems or speech-generating devices. Sessions focus on expressing wants and needs, sharing ideas, and interacting with others during motivating, real-life activities.
Between sessions, families receive strategies to support AAC use at home, school, and in the community. This helps communication carry over into daily routines and supports meaningful, confident communication across environments.
Meet Your Speech Therapist
Welcome! I’m Jamie.
Hi, I'm Jamie, a pediatric speech therapist and the owner of Waves of Speech Pediatric Speech Therapy in San Clemente. I’ve spent the past nine years working with children from toddlerhood through young adulthood, mainly in school settings, with a strong focus on AAC and complex communication needs.
As both a mom and a clinician, I understand how easy it is for families to worry that they’re missing something. I saw a need in our community for speech therapy that feels supportive, clear, and centered on the whole family.
My goal is to create a calm, judgment-free space where parents feel confident and capable. And to make speech therapy convenient by bringing it to you… in your home, your child’s preschool or daycare, or online.
Outside of therapy, I enjoy time at the beach, walking on local trails with our golden retriever, Finn, and visiting coffee shops with my family.
Ready to get started? Here is the process to work with Waves of Speech.
Waves of Speech offers in-home speech therapy for children in San Clemente and the surrounding areas. Virtual speech therapy is also available anywhere in California.
-
We will begin with a free phone consultation to discuss your concerns, answer questions, and determine whether an evaluation is recommended. This call helps families feel informed and confident before moving forward.
-
If recommended, we will then meet for an evaluation. This session allows us to understand your child’s needs and develop a personalized therapy plan.
-
Following the evaluation, results are reviewed and individualized recommendations are provided. Therapy goals are developed based on assessment findings, family priorities, and your child’s unique communication needs.
-
Therapy sessions are individualized. Parents are actively involved through coaching and collaboration, with ongoing support to promote carryover and generalization of skills. When goals are met or therapy is no longer needed, services are thoughtfully concluded.
